The Many New Found Purposes of a Garden

For quite sometime I thought of the garden as a place to work feverishly on upkeep, and to entertain guests. Over the years I pruned, planned new plant configurations, and ruined several pairs of jeans getting down and dirty. I celebrated the results of those arduous hours of gardening by showing them off at dinner parties, luncheons, showers, and other gatherings.

It was not until recently that I began to actively enjoy my garden and to integrate it into my everyday lifestyle. Now, upon arrival at home, I migrate to the garden table with my daily mail. I sort through things right there in the sunlight instead of my dimly lit home office. Just today I read a saga car insurance review, and then called the company with additional car insurance questions while reclining on an outdoor lounger, now this is the life!

I no longer restrict my time in the garden to just socializing or tending to the perennials. Instead, I am actually going about the chores of daily life in my favourite setting. I do those tasks I deplore, but enjoy the fresh air. I insure my car, balance my check book and return calls I have had the best of intentions to get to, and all while looking at the birds playing in the fountain. Now I just wonder why I did not do it sooner.
